NB: the Shuttle in the above image is Atlantis, being rolled out in readiness for either the STS-121 mission, or as a potential rescue vehicle for the crew of STS-114 Discovery.

Atlantis was originally scheduled for STS-121 until 08/18/05, when it was announced that Discovery was to be used instead, and NASA said that STS-121 would be postponed until March 2006.

STS-114 was the 114th Space Shuttle mission1; STS-121 will be the 115th; after STS-121 will follow STS-115, the 116th mission. - The mission numbers are assigned originally in the correct sequence, e.g, 114, 115, 116..., but the missions sometimes get shuffled around, although they keep their original numbers.

1 not including the eight STS ALT test flights in 1977.
